Fortune Sticks

At temples in Taiwan, people sincerely state their question, draw a fortune stick, then cast moon blocks. Only a holy cup (one flat side up, one round side up) means the fortune is accepted.

At the temple, the first step is to state your full name. Your name is how heaven and earth know you — without it, the fortune wouldn’t know who it’s for.
